CapMan operated Tukikummit foundation gears up for new stage on its journey, launches holiday fundraising campaign

The Finnish Tukikummit foundation, which CapMan has supported through donations for several years, gears up for a new stage on its journey headed by its new Managing Director Maija Ilmoniemi. As CapMan assumed the responsibility of operating the foundation in 2023 it set an ambitious target to significantly grow the foundations operations, expanding its reach throughout society. Today marks a first step on this journey as the foundation launches its holiday fundraising campaign – looking to raise funds to give children and youth in need the gift of a hobby this Christmas.

The Tukikummit foundation has worked to support disadvantaged youth in Finland since its establishment in 2007. CapMan Plc has focused its charitable donations to Tukikummit for already eight years’ time and recently took an even bigger role in it by starting to fund its operational activities, appointing Maija Ilmoniemi as its Managing Director, and setting the target of significantly growing the amount of donations collected and number of children and youth receiving support. By funding the foundation CapMan wants to actively use its resources to make a positive impact on society and especially children and youth in need.

The foundation is now up and running with its new Managing Director and is today launching its holiday fundraising campaign, looking to raise funds to give children and youth in need the gift of a hobby this Christmas. As cost-of-living rises, more and more families end up having to exclude their children from hobbies. This should not be the case as quitting hobbies increases inequality, the risk of loneliness and marginalisation.1 On the other hand, children with hobbies experience many positive effects such as less anxiety and loneliness and increased feelings of meaningfulness. This is why, this holiday season, the foundation is looking to raise funds for children and youth around the theme “Give a child a hobby for Christmas”.

“I am really excited about the next phase on our journey at the Tukikummit Foundation. Together with CapMan I truly believe we can make a significant impact. Tukikummit wants to ensure that as many children as possible living in Finland, regardless of the family’s situation, can take part in hobbies. This is why, this holiday season, we are looking to raise funds for children and youth around the theme “Give a child a hobby for Christmas”,” shares Maija Ilmoniemi, Managing Director at the Tukikummit foundation.

“As Chair of the Board of the foundation I am glad to see the next phase of the foundation taking shape in the form of this campaign. With this campaign, we want to encourage everyone to join in on building a better future for Finnish youth. Even a small donation can be a big help to the person who receives it”, shares Joakim Frimodig, Chair of the Board of the Tukikummit foundation and CapMan Plc.
