In Spain, CapMan Natural Capital’s primary focus is on cork oak (Quercus suber) forests, which are an example of sustainable forest management, where only the bark of the tree is harvested. Cork oak forests in Spain are typically managed as dehesa—a traditional agroforestry system combining trees, pasture, and livestock.

CapMan Natural Capital made its first investment in Spain in 2022. These forests are FSC® certified and benefit from well-established forest management practices in cooperation with a local company.

In Portugal, CapMan Natural Capital primarily manages highly productive eucalyptus plantations, while native mediterranean vegetation adjacent to eucalyptus have an environmental function.

CapMan Natural Capital made its first investment in Portugal in 2013. These forests are FSC®-certified and managed in close cooperation with local forestry companies.
