The Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) are primarily covered by semi-natural mixed forests, which account for more than half of the Baltic land area. Since 1990s, forest management in the region has steadily developed and is now based on sustainable forest management practices, adapted to local conditions. Forest area is increasing and the countries enjoy strong international investment activity.
