CapMan Press release 30 October 2009 at 1.30 p.m.
The CapMan Life Science IV fund has signed an agreement to acquire a majority holding in Swedish-based SRK Konsultation AB (SRK) from the company’s founder, Thomas Björkman, and other shareholders. SRK provides treatment, residential care, and educational services for young people and adults in Uppsala and the surrounding area. The aim of the investment is to continue the company’s expansion elsewhere in Sweden.
Founded in 2002, SRK has a total of 10 units today that provide young people and adults with complex behavioural problems with a range of help, care, and education aimed at enabling them to lead a more independent life. The company operates treatment centers, family homes, group and assisted living units and daily activities, as well as a special education institution in the Uppsala area. SKR recorded net sales of approximately EUR 5 million in 2008 and currently employs some 80 people. The company currently has contracts with more than 25 municipalities.
“The investment in SRK is a result of a careful process to find an investment target in this sector, and is in line with our strategy to invest in high-quality growth companies within Nordic healthcare. Thanks to its size and unique competence, SRK is well-positioned to seek future growth,” says CapMan Partner Per Sköld
“We are very pleased that CapMan will become the new majority owner in SRK, and believe that the investment will give us a good foundation to help more people who are in need of support, education, and treatment services,” says Mattias Nyblom, the Managing Director of SRK Konsultation AB.
The closing of the transaction is subject to certain customary closing conditions and is expected to be finalised by the end of November. CapMan Plc is a substantial investor in the CapMan Life Science IV fund.
